Introducing the New "Power Predictor 2" (3 in 1) Wind Vane, Anemometer & Solar Gauge Data Logger

Ever wondered . . . Power Predictor device

  • How much green energy YOU could generate at your home or business?
  • How much money YOU could save off your energy bills?
  • How much this would reduce YOUR CO2 emissions?

The Power Predictor answers these questions simply, quickly and easily:

  • The Power Predictor assesses the suitability of your site for renewable energy, specifically solar and wind.
  • The Power Predictor allows you to cheaply and easily collect real life solar and wind data from your site.
  • The Power Predictor produces customised power reports for your site including carbon savings and annual energy generation estimates.
  • The Power Predictor tells you how much money you could save by installing the major wind turbines or solar panels on the market before you buy, avoiding expensive mistakes.

The Power Predictor in action:

Exmoor farmer blown away by energy savings

Power Predictor on mast

Aston Farm in Exmoor National Park has been owned by the Halliday family for over 150 years. Using the Power Predictor, George Halliday has been able to discover that his back yard could help not just to reduce George with Power Predictor mountedhis carbon emissions, but also save him nearly £7000 every year!

To reduce interference and turbulence from surrounding trees and buildings, George mounted the Power Predictor in a local field using his own, handmade, 10 metre mast. (For those of you not quite as ambitious with the DIY as George, a range of masts for the Power Predictor are available.) Having recorded a month's data and uploaded it with 'no problems', George viewed his power report to reveal his energy saving potential.

George said, "I find the power report table very helpful in identifying the right turbine for me and I am very happy with the Power Predictor's performance overall." The power report concluded the Gala Wind Turbine would be the best investment for Aston Farm, generating more than enough energy to cover the Farm's total energy demand. George also hopes to sell his surplus electricity back to the grid, making his yearly cost savings ever greater!

Rotten roof for wind... Dave's Power Report proved he could save more sunny side up

Dave with power predictor

What happens if you put a wind turbine on your roof in an urban area with low wind speeds? Power Predictor's answer... not a lot! Now working as a Carbon Coach, Dave Hampton placed his Power Predictor on his roof on his London home only to discover a typical wind turbine might never payback his initial investment.

Dave says the Power Predictor is "essential". He said, "It avoids wasting your money on a piece of kit which is not right for you. It will help people invest their low carbon legacy wisely - not to blow it on something that looks grand but gives the least carbon bang to the buck!"

Using his Power report, Dave is now looking to invest in a Solar PV panel instead, having already purchased a Solar Thermal System. This is predicted to reduce his energy bill by over £300 every year.

The best invention since sliced bread

Duncan is the owner of The Thoughtful Bread Company, a small bakery in Bath. Keen on doing his bit for the environmeThe Thoughtful Bread Companynt, Duncan is looking to invest in renewable technologies in the near future.

"We wondered if turbulence from nearby buildings would affect the viability of a wind turbine in our location, and therefore were delighted to have the Power Predictor to allow us to properly assess the situation before considering investing. So many people base their decision on statistics that are based on generalised figures which will vary considerably when applied from one location to another."

Previously the bakery had invested in a small 12V solar panel which provides energy to power their fuel pump used to refuel their biodiesel-powered van. Interested in the potential economic and environmental benefits that renewable technology could provide, The Thoughtful Bread Company are relieved that they can use the results from their Power Report to "make an informed decision" from data which is specific to their location.

I need to know more:

Aren't there other ways to find out this information?  Can't I just use the modelled data online?

There are various other ways to calculate the power at your site but these are significantly more expensive and/or much less accurate and comprehensive.  Various alternative solutions include expensive anemometers (in excess of £1000, and only measure wind) or a visit of a consultant (more expensive and doesn't take a long term picture).  Modelled data alone cannot be relied upon as it does not consider local obstructions and is accurate only to a sq kilometre.
I know someone who had an installer come and calculate the potential of their site.  Isn't that more reliable?
Excluding the cost, which is likely to be several hundred pounds for a few hours of their time, this method is unlikely to take into account an ongoing analysis, as the Power Predictor does.  For example, if the installer visits on a particularly windy day they may overestimate the wind power potential of your site or underestimate the solar power potential if it's overcast.
Isn't £182.50 expensive?
This price is much cheaper than anything similar on the market - about a fifth of comparable devices - whilst providing a more comprehensive and easy to use solution.  The cost include the sensor, the data recorder, and a twelve month software license to analyse your data at www.powerpredictor.com.  With the Power Predictor you can unlock the potential of your site or avoid a costly mistake by spending thousands on renewable energy technology for an inappropriate site.
How is it so cheap?
It has taken 2 years of research and development to get the cost this low.  Our years of expertise in the wind and solar industries, offering independent advice of various third party solutions have placed us in a unique position to develop a low cost, highly accurate site assessment device.
Do I need planning permission?  Is it an eyesore?
You do not need planning permission to mount the Power Predictor as a temporary structure.  It is a small device, no larger than a crow.  Far from being an eyesore, many people see it as a positive lifestyle statement.
Does it take long to install?
Often it can only take a few minutes to install your Power Predictor. If you are mounting it on a pole it may take longer.
I'm interested but I don't know anyone who can sell me a wind turbine or a solar panel?
