BATTERY SYSTEMS
We are able to offer a starter package, consisting of Turbine,
Stop Switch, Charge Controller and Dump Load. To help you on
your way into Renewable Energy
Although we can supply absolutely everything you need, we would suggest
you look around for some ex fork lift truck batteries or similar, as a
cheaper option to buying new deep cycle batteries (we recommend a minimum of 400AH*
as a battery bank). Also we would suggest you look at using a guyed
scaffold pole (approx 6m+) as your tower. This will help keep your costs
down. Inverters are a matter of choice, depending how much power you are
likely to use at any one time, there are loads to choose from on Ebay,
we sell only the better quality Pure Sine Wave Inverters, but you do not
necessarily need to go to that level if you are only using power tools,
lights etc.
* When working out Amp Hours (AH) for
battery banks, if you have a single battery (lets say a 12v one) that is
rated at 100AH, then if you have 4 of these in series to make 48v, you
will have a bank of 100AH at 48v. But if you had 4 in parallel at 12v, you will
then have a bank of 400AH at 12v. If you multiply the volts by the amps,
you will notice they provide the same amount of power i.e.. 4.8kW,
although not all of this is available, as you must never completely
drain your batteries.
This is a typical battery setup

Futurenergy 48V Turbine, Windmaster 500 Grid-Tie
Inverter & Stop Switch
The Windmaster 500 offers a simple solution when
connecting an FE1048 turbine to your household mains supply. With it's
light weight and compact size, the Windmaster 500 can be installed
inside existing meter cupboards, or in outbuildings, but is not suitable
for use outdoors. Connection to the input of the inverter is provided by
2 dedicated DC power plugs, supplied. The output should be connected in
accordance with the electrical requirements for the country of
installation. Just Plug In & Go in the UK using the normal 13A
Plug/Socket
This inverter is supplied exclusively by FuturEnergy
in the UK which has been programmed to match the Futurenergy Turbine, and comes complete with DC input plugs, PC-Link connection
and Monitoring/Logging software. In low wind sites it is advisable to
use only one inverter with the FE1048, since over 90% of the power
produced by the turbine will lie under the 550W export power limit of
the inverter. For higher wind speed sites, we would suggest using 2
inverters, connected in parallel, to handle the full power of the FE1048
turbine. No charge controller is required when using these inverters,
since they can handle a much higher input voltage than the turbine can
produce, even in power-cut situations.
